Dr. Rachael Goodman, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in DC and I specialize in counseling for stress and trauma. I have a PhD in Mental Health Counseling and I have been in the counseling profession for almost 20 years. For the past 14 years, I have been training future counselors as a counseling professor.

In my therapy practice, I combine Gestalt counseling, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS) theory, and somatic approaches. Using these perspectives, I offer a comprehensive therapeutic approach that addresses thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and inner conflicts, fostering holistic healing and personal growth. Additionally, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a practice that uses bilateral stimulation to cultivate strengths and reprocess distressing memories. Overall, I help clients navigate the impact of stress or trauma on their lives and relationships, recognizing the significance of culture and context in shaping their strengths and challenges. Together, we blend various aspects of a client’s experiences and identities to help them grow and flourish, even amidst challenges.

You can read more about me on my website.
